Blue House. Red Door

It's amazing what happens when you bring in the professionals. Bam, it's done. Just like that.
We'd done as much as we could safely reach. Ok, correction, we'd done the first coat on everything we could safely reach and the second coat on everything we could easily reach. But there came a point where getting any higher on that ladder just seemed a little too crazy for two people who aren't super fond of heights. So in came the real painters. Yesterday. And they left today. Finished.

If only all our project could go that fast!

Actually, where would the fun be in that, right? But it was nice to drive off to swim team this evening and leave behind this
Instead of this
I love my blue house.

  1. It looks fantastic!

I had to look back at my pictures from Saturday because I thought the house looked great then...I didn't realize the area around the upper windows wasn't done then.

What you've done to that house is amazing!

  2. This looks great!! Do you have aluminum siding? I want to paint ours, but don't know how it would hold up.

  3. Thanks! Annieglan, it was aluminium but we ripped that off because there was wood underneath. But we considered painting the aluminum, it's supposed to be doable. The reason we ripped it off was that there were some details that were lost under the aluminum that we wanted to see. Plus the wood siding was in really good shape from what we could tell by peeking (and for the most part it was in great shape) so we went for it. It was a pain, but worth it.

  4. It looks beautiful!! I love the contrast of the blue with the red door! And the transformation from the before photo is really amazing -- the addition of the pergola and picket fence is perfect.

On another note, I absolutely love reading your blog. It's such a pleasure to read your writing and your anecdotes about your family. Thank you!

  6. What a beautiful color! The white one was also nice, but if I would have to choose, I would definitely go for the new color! Thanks for sharing!

  7. Thanks! On all accounts! Every time we start to paint something I think "Why are we doing this, it's such a pain!" and then we finish and I remember why, paint makes such a huge difference.:)
